Is the Lumosa BASE Plus suitable for ERE registration?
In our assessment the Lumosa BASE Plus has a built-in MID-certified meter. The metering therefore meets the metering condition for ERE registration, also on a grid connection that is not used exclusively for transport.
What does this mean for your organisation?
The meter is one part of the file. For business registration the verifier also checks:
- that the grid connection is registered in the Central Connection Register (CAR) in the name of your business; owning a secondary allocation point is not enough;
- that the registered kWh can be traced to this charge point, with session data or meter readings;
- that type number and MID certification are documented, for example with a photo of the rating plate and the manufacturer's declaration of conformity;
- that there is an authorisation per (subsidiary) business and per calendar year if a registration service provider registers on your behalf.
Charging data and connections

Frequently asked questions about the Lumosa BASE Plus
- Does the Lumosa BASE Plus have an MID-certified meter?
- Yes. In our assessment the Lumosa BASE Plus has a built-in meter that complies with the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID).
- Can a business register EREs with the Lumosa BASE Plus?
- As far as the metering goes, yes. In addition, the grid connection must be registered in the Central Connection Register (CAR) in the name of the business and the delivery to transport must be demonstrable. Registration is done in-house or through a registration service provider.
- What evidence does the verifier ask for with the Lumosa BASE Plus?
- The type number and MID certification of the charge point (for example a photo of the rating plate and the manufacturer's declaration of conformity), kWh data per charge point, and proof that the grid connection is in the name of the business. The verifier decides whether the evidence is sufficient.
- How do I know which variant of the Lumosa BASE Plus is installed?
- Manufacturers sell variants under the same model name, sometimes with and sometimes without an MID meter. The rating plate and the delivery note or installation invoice provide certainty. For a portfolio, record the type number per charge point.

When the MID meter matters
Electricity delivered to transport can be registered in the Register Energy for Transport (REV) of the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa). Every kilogram of CO2reduction yields one Emission Reduction Unit (ERE), which fuel suppliers buy to meet their obligation.
Only quantities measured at a metered delivery point may be registered: in practice the meter in the charge point. If the grid connection or secondary allocation point is not used exclusively for transport, that meter must beMID-certified. Most business sites charge on a mixed-use connection, so for them the meter in the charge point decides. For households, a built-in MID meter is always required.
The meter is one part of the file. The verifier also checks that the connection is in the name of the business in the Central Connection Register (CAR), that the kWh can be traced to the charge point, and that type number and MID certification are documented.
